Video Walk-through of ExhibitioN, “Sacred Biodiversity: Icons of the Late Cenozoic,” Moray Art Center, Scotland; Fordham University Panel Discussion; Public Reading of The Sacred Biodiversity Oracle

After a highly successful six- week run, having opened to a packed audience and standing room only for my Artist's Talk, my solo exhibition, Sacred Biodiversity: Icons of the Late Cenozoic, at the Moray Art Center in Scotland, closed on April 26th. Eliciting deeply heartfelt and encouraging feedback from viewers , the exhibition was also a milestone in a number of ways: it was the first showing of these works in the United Kingdom; the first time all the images were gathered together with both originals and high quality reproductions of works that are in private collections; and the first public exhibition of new artworks commissioned by Orbis Books for the cover of the newly released book, Beyond Factory Farming: A Contemplative-Prophetic Approach to Food by James Robinson.

If you were not able to travel to the wilds of the Scottish Highlands to see the artwork in person, I invite you to enjoy this compelling five minute video walk through encapsulating the entire exhibition (turn up sound for the full effect with the evocative soundtrack):

Another event during the exhibition was an online panel discussion sponsored by Fordham University’s Center on Religion and Culture, featuring myself, feminist theologian Elizabeth Johnson, and Fordham’s Orthodox theologian, George Demacopoulos. This stimulating conversation included a discussion about my contemporary icons and how contemplating Creation (and icons that depict it) can lead our hearts and minds to the Divine. Last but not least, I gave my first public reading of The Sacred Biodiversity Oracle, my book accompanied by 36 full-color postcard sized reproductions of my icons of threatened and endangered species. Participants were led through exercises engaging intellect and intuition, leading to an experience of compassion and a desire to take action on behalf of our suffering Natural World. After the exercises, participants were able to connect directly to conservation and wildlife and criminal justice organizations through QR codes on each card, to take meaningful action. The system is a valuable learning tool and can be used individually or in a group setting for a powerful synergistic effect. A case in point: this reading (pictured below) led to the creation of a new Autumn Conference in the UK in which I will be presenting, entitled, Healing our World: From Despair to Repairat the Universal Hall, Park Ecovillage Findhorn, Scotland , 17–19 October 2026 (stay tuned for details and how to register).
