Gopher Tortoise Original Artwork - Center for Biological Diversity Fundraiser
As with many of my contemporary icons, the Center for Biological Diversity has been a great source of inspiration and information; I frequently reach out to them for ideas about which species to depict. I was so moved to learn that not only is the Gopher Tortoise habitat at extreme risk, but its welfare affects the 360 other species that use their burrows! With such wide-ranging impact, I couldn’t pass up creating an icon of this humble yet heroic species.
I am happy to make this art piece available to collectors and members of the Center for Biological Diversity. As is my practice, I will donate 50% of the proceeds from the sale of my originals to the Center to enable them to continue their invaluable work.
